Blog Prompt for Thursday May 12th

I believe the aim of enforcing such harsh policy is to protect our own country from invading by foreign illegal immigrants, plus I think that illegal immigrants are really taking jobs from the US workers so it's reasonable for the law to be so tough. Although illegal immigrants tend to work in agricultural field which less wages would be paid. Putting ourselves into the shoes, US workers cannot bear to work in such excruciating condition. This phenomenon that illegal immigrants all seek a career in the United States of America should also blame the effect of the recession, since the US recover faster compared to other developing countries while their unemployment rate might be 2-3 times higher than ours, thus create a virtual concept that hey can rush to America to find jobs cause it seems more easier.

Homework for 8/5/2011

In general  , I think the coverage of this SB1070 law and the text of the law are a little hard to square. There's nothing in the law that requires cities to stop people without cause, or encourages racial or ethnic profiling by itself. But indeed the implementation of the law requires a lot of evidence support in order to boost up the creditability. The government must have gone through a lot of data concerning the crime rate of the illegal immigrants, but illegal immigrants committing crime is a uncertainty cause we're not prying on them 24-7.I believe the toughness of the law is reasonable because this is an act of a self-defense mechanism; we want to protect our homeland from being "invaded" illegal immigrants.
